How to Earn Points in our Green Challenge
You can earn points on Tuesday, June 20 with the following activities:
• Walking or carpooling to the Convention Center
• Eating vegetarian meals (1 point each) or vegan meals (2 points each).
– Note: in order to be served vegetarian or vegan meals at the convention center, you must select this dietary preference in the conference registration system prior to June 4.
• Attending the session on native plants, weed ordinances, and HOAs (CS02) or the session on gardening for wildlife (CS05)
• Attending the session on protecting honeybees (CS12) or the session on water-wise landscaping (CS14)
• Attending the session on attracting hummingbirds (CS21)
• Visiting the Environmental Stewardship booth and reading the information about what you can do while at IMGC
• Attending the optional evening presentation on protecting monarchs
• Not consuming any beverages packaged in single-use plastic bottles or using any straws
• Putting all recyclable materials in recycle bins
• Reusing towels from the previous day
You can earn points on Wednesday, June 21 with the following activities:
• Walking or carpooling to the Convention Center
• Eating vegetarian meals (1 point each) or vegan meals (2 points each).
– Note: in order to be served vegetarian or vegan meals at the convention center, you must select this dietary preference in the conference registration system prior to June 4.
• Attending the breakfast keynote presentation
• Attending the session on non-toxic gardening (CS29) or the session on plants for birds (CS33)
• Attending the session on mini-forests (CS40)
• Attending the session on native grasses (CS44) or the session on monarch waystations (CS47)
• Attending the session on protecting pollinators (CS51) or the session on composting (CS54)
• Visiting the Environmental Stewardship booth and reading the information about what you can do at home
• Not consuming any beverages packaged in single-use plastic bottles or using any straws
• Putting all recyclable materials in recycle bins
• Reusing towels from the previous day
• Pledging to adopt a new “green” practice after the conference.
